COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease. COVID testing is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself, your family, and your community if you have or think you have the viral disease. At Dynamic Health & Wellness Center in Tampa, Florida, Wendy Christensen, APRN, offers rapid COVID testing and COVID-19 vaccines. For COVID testing, call the office or schedule an appointment online today.
COVID testing determines if you have severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes COVID-19, or have antibodies from a previous infection.
Dynamic Health & Wellness Center offers rapid COVID-19 testing, which checks for an acute infection. This test is the viral COVID-19 test.
The antibody test checks your blood to see if you had COVID-19 in the past. The viral and antibody COVID tests aren’t interchangeable. If you suspect you have COVID-19, you need a viral COVID test like the one available at Dynamic Health & Wellness Center.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends COVID-19 testing if you have symptoms of the disease. Some of the more common symptoms of COVID-19 include:
You should also have COVID testing if you were in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Further, the CDC recommends testing before and after travel and for screening before attending a group event.
Dynamic Health & Wellness Center also offers COVID-19 immunizations, which may protect you from getting serious symptoms from COVID-19. If you have COVID-19 or think you have it, you should wait to get vaccinated until you test negative.
Mrs. Christensen can talk to you about the COVID-19 vaccine and when you should get vaccinated and boosted.
Dynamic Health & Wellness Center offers rapid COVID testing. For this test, Mrs. Christensen uses a nasal swab to collect secretions from your nose. Results from the rapid COVID-19 test take 15-30 minutes.
What happens after COVID testing at Dynamic Health & Wellness Center depends on your results.
If you test positive, Mrs. Christensen recommends isolation for five days and follow-up testing at the end of your isolation. She also provides guidance on monitoring and managing symptoms and when to seek medical help.
If you test negative and your COVID-19 immunizations are up-to-date, you can resume your usual activities. If you’re not up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines and have symptoms but test negative, Mrs. Christensen recommends you quarantine for five days and take another test.
If you test negative, don’t have symptoms, and you’re not fully vaccinated, you can resume your usual activities. Mrs. Christensen encourages you to update your immunizations as soon as it's feasible.
Schedule your COVID testing by calling Dynamic Health & Wellness Center or booking an appointment online today.
